Anichebe joins Sunderland on free transfer

Nigeria internationals Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe are now surplus to requirement at West Brom after their coach admitted the duo could leave the club this summer.
Manager Tony Pulis said after their 3-0 loss at home Monday evening that the Nigerian internationals could be forced out of the Hawthorns following the arrival of Jose Salomon Rondon from Zenit St. Petersburg.
The Columbian signed for a club record 12 million pound and has been tipped as direct replacement for Ideye who joined from Dynamo Kiev last summer in a then club record of 10 million pound.

Ideye’s first year in England was underwhelming and was even close to leaving the club last January but the manager hinted the former Sochaux star and his compatriot, Anichebe, may not escape the axe this time.
“Obviously Victor and Browny – people will look at them and think they have to now move on, but I think they’ve wanted to play more regular football anyway.
“The fact we’re bringing Salomon in – does it hasten their move from the football club? We’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
