Another ‘Agatu’ in Taraba: Herdsmen kill 44

The menace of the marauding Fulani herdsmen has been witnessed again this time in Taraba State after heavily armed assailants suspected to be herdsmen attacked and killed no fewer than 44 people at Angai and Ndole villages in Gashak Local Council area of the state.

Several houses, valuables and animals were burnt to ashes and a large number of the local population are reported to have fled to neighbouring Cameroun Republic following the attack.

Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident could not readily give an actual number of lives lost and place a value on the property destroyed during the invasion.

“It is true that there was an attack by the herdsmen, but for now, I don’t have the full details of the crisis, so I cannot tell you the number of casualties now.” Kwaji said.
