Appoint Petroleum Minister now, Adebanjo tells Buhari

Prominent Yoruba leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has examined the current face-off between the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, over $25billion contract awards and sundry allegation of insubordination and posited that it was high time President Muhammadu Buhari appointed a minister for the ministry.

Adebanjo, in an interview with Sunday Telegraph said that President Buhari should vacate the position because, unlike former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who held the post during his tenure, Buhari does not have the capacity and good health to combine both offices.

“Buhari does not need to be told to relinquish the position of Minister of Petroleum Resources. Does he have the capacity and good health to head the ministry? It is for this reason that a President or Prime Minister appoints a minster for such offices.
