As the whereabouts and health status of the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba Erediauwa remains shrouded in secrecy and mystery, a quiet struggle has ignited in Benin to occupy the exalted seat of who rules the Benin Kingdom.

Already the Ogiamien family is laying claim to the throne saying that the Akenzua family from which Oba Erediauwa hails are visitors in the kingdom, suggesting that already the families are set to battle each other to lay claim to the throne in the struggle to succeed Erediauwa.

Ripples gathered from reliable sources, that only last week the kingmakers notified Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, that one Prince Rich Arisco Osenwingie, a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is parading himself as His Royal Majesty, Ogiamien of Utantan Benin nation, and laying claim to the throne.

The governor who received them was reported to have promised, that he would not allow the kingdom to be brought to disrepute.

Yesterday, the said Arisco was arraigned before the Benin Magistrate court on a six count charge of misdemeanor. Charged alongside him was one Patrick Osabuohien. The case was reported to have been presided over by Justice M.C Ojobo.

The said Arisco and Osabuohien have been remanded in Benin prison and the case adjourned to Sept 29.

Also today, the traditional Benin chiefs and Enigie reportedly held a meeting at the Oba’s palace, which was presided over by Iyase, Chief Sam Igbe and placed a curse on Prince Arisco for his actions.

What??? Someone can try that with the exalted Benin throne?? Ascension to the Benin throne is strictly based on the principle of male primogeniture: the first son succeeds the father. Simple. Make this Arisco and Osabuohien no let the gods punish them o.

Thank you brothe, they have learnt a lot from our neighbours who fight tooth and nail over the succession of of their kings. Its a taboo, and I trust my people, I also join them in laying a curse on the idiot. History has it that that family(ogiamien) has been in antagonism with then Weeks who started the title of Obaship in Igodomigodo, later Ile Ibinu(corrupted to ubini or Bini). The same family never allowed Oranmiyan the son of the heir Ekaladeran (known as Oduduwa) to reign as they repeatedly frustrated his rule. Now the family only exist today after centuries to daface and ridicule my worldwidely highly and respected heritage. I think its high time we banish that family from our kingdom. Intact, Ogun punish their generation past, present and future…iseeeeeeeh. OBA A TO PE EEEE
