IPOB thumbs up Amnesty Int'l report, says 'but its incorrect'

The ravaging pro-Biafra protests currently ravaging the South East and the South South, Thursday, moved to Owerri, the Imo State capital, as hundreds of supporters of Pro- Biafra groups marched along major streets in Owerri and called for the release of Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the acclaimed operator Radio Biafra.

The demonstrators were drawn from members of Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, chanting pro-Biafra songs and war songs.

Commercial activities were brought to a halt as a result of the protest, as markets, and other commercial centres were shut. Schools were also closed down.

The demonstration was however peaceful with armed security operatives, including the police and the army, followed in trucks, monitoring the situation.

The demonstration forced the three main markets in Owerri to be closed while some private schools and businesses were also shut.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, Andrew Enwerem, declined comment on the reason for the presence of armed security personnel who monitored the protest.
