BIAFRA: IPOB vows to fight on, says Army has no right to tag it 'terrorist group'

Leader of the secessionist group IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has said that his group is not interested in the restructuring of Nigeria.

According to him, all they want is a separate state of Biafra from Nigeria.

This is coming against popular calls by different regions and prominent individuals for the restructuring of the country.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who was recently released from prison on bail stated this when about seven other pro-Biafra groups pronounced him as their leader and agreed to work together in their agitation for a separate state from Nigeria.

According to the group, their decision to unite and work together was borne out of the desire to speak with one voice in their quest to securing the Republic of Biafra.

The group met and took the decision at a closed door meeting with Kanu, in Afaraukwu, the IPOB leader’s home town.

The seven pro-Biafra groups are Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Biafran Revolutionary Organisation (BRO); Eastern People Congress (EPC); Joint Revolutionary Council of Biafra (JRCB); Biafra Liberation Crusaders (BLC); and Salvation People of Biafra.

When questioned about his take on the growing call for restructuring, Kanu said he has no believe in the restructuring of Nigeria as being canvased by eminent Nigerians, arguing that the last thing a Nigerian government will do will be to keep any agreement reached in the restructuring exercise.

He insisted that it is referendum or nothing.

He said, “Aburi agreement was reneged on by Nigerian government, the 2014 National Conference was dumped until the Biafra agitation became intense and it was remembered.

Kanu, who was recently released on bail by the court stands the risk of re-arrest as he has flouted the bail conditions given to him.

Among the conditions, the court ordered that he should not be in a gathering of more than ten people, and that he should not grant any interview to any journalist, which he has done severally.

Re-arresting at this time is not wise, it can spur imminent crisis, so let’s take things slow

Apga has lost the trust of the people sir. They don’t represent us. they are the elites who are there for their own benefits

Nigerian government can never fulfill any promise, restructuring is going to be waste of time, energy and resources. How many promises has the government of Nigeria fulfilled? None! What we want is Biafra

Please rearrest Kanu to subside all these tension he’s causing everywhere. Releasing him at first was a great mistake that everyone is now regretting

You’re the one thinking he’s causing tension, his people love what he’s doing, they believe he’s fighting for them. With time, he’d be returned to prison.

But what about the minority groups who were badly treated during the short moment of seeming independence? The pro Biafra groups draw maps without consulting them. Do they have the right to do that?
