Tribunal sacks Rivers’ Senator Sekibo
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Rivers East senatorial district, Senator George Sekibo, has been dismissed by Rivers State national and state Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
His sack followed the ruling of the three-man panel sitting at Apo Quarters in the Federal Capital Territory which was in favour of the petition of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Andrew Uchendu.
In another ruling, involving APC candidate for the Rivers West senatorial district election, Otelemaba Dan-Amachree and Senator Osinaka Ideozu of the PDP, the candidate of the PDP emerged victorious.
Declaring Uchendu as the winner of the December 10 rerun election in Rivers-East Senatorial District, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to issue the APC candidate a certificate of return, and withdraw that of Senator Sekibo.

According to the Tribunal, Sekibo “became Senator through the back door.”
Both Senator Sekibo and APC’s Dan-Amachree, are supposedly going to appeal the judgments which failed to favour them.
