Borno Govt admits 3 persons died during Boko Haram’s attack on Gov Shettima

Three persons have been confirmed dead in the attack on the convoy of Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state.

A statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau on Thursday regretted the unfortunate attack by Boko Haram on the governor along Maiduguri-Gamboru Road on Tuesday evening.

He said the governor would today (Thursday) meet with security heads to forestall a recurrence of such incident while a meeting had also been scheduled for later in the day with the families of victims of the attack.

He said: “Gov. Kashim Shettima mourns with the deepest thought and heartfelt condolences, the demise of some fellow citizens, brothers, associates and loyal supporters.

“This follows the unfortunate ambush of some vehicles in his convoy by suspected insurgents on Tuesday evening along the road to Gamboru, headquarters of Ngala Local Government Area.

“While the Governor is expecting full security briefing to get accurate information on the incident, preliminary report on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three persons during the attack,“ he said.
