38 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed as Nigeria’s overall figure hits 665

For the first time in about two weeks, no single case of COVID-19 was recorded in Lagos after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 38 new cases of the disease in some parts of the country Monday night.

The centre said on its Twitter handle that 23 new cases were recorded in Kano, five in Gombe, three in Kaduna and two each in Abia and Borno States.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ekiti and Sokoto States also recorded one case each.

The NCDC, however, announced that a new patient died of coronavirus-related complications, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the country to 22.

Nigeria currently has 665 cases of COVID-19 with 22 deaths.

However, 188 patients have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centres across the country.

NCDC said: “Thirty-eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported: 23 in Kano, five in Gombe, three in Kaduna, two in Borno, two in Abia, one in FCT, one in Sokoto, and one in Ekiti

“As of 11:10 p.m. on the 20th April, there are 665 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 188; Deaths: 22.
