BREAKING: Most wanted kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Wadume, arrested in Kano

Hamisu Wadume, who could pass for Nigeria’s most wanted kidnap kingpin, has been arrested in Hotoro area of Kano State.

The office of Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, led by the Intelligence Response Team, said the arrest was made late Monday night.

Hamisu had been on the run since he was fingered as being central to the killing of three undercover agents of the police who had gone to effect his arrest in Taraba State.

The three police officers were gunned down by soldiers of 93 Battalion Ibi who, allegedly acting on a tip-off, stalled Wadume’s arrest and allowed his escape.

President Muhammadu Buhari had since authorized a high-powered Committee of the military and police to investigate the incident.

Hamisu is currently being held at the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Hamisu Wadume had been on the run for about two weeks since Nigerian soldiers in the slumbering village of Gidinwaya, between Ibi and Wukari, southern Taraba State allegedly facilitated his escape.
