Buhari returning Nigeria to dictatorship, say PDP govs

The PDP Governors’ Forum has once again taken a critical assessment of the political atmosphere in Nigeria and declared that the country was sliding into dictatorship under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The forum, which is a platform for governors elected under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) stated this at the end of a meeting it had in Bayelsa State Governor’s office in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

The chairman of the forum, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, who read the communiqué issued, said the actions of the Federal Government under President Buhari , particularly the alleged invasion of Akwa Ibom State Government House by operatives of the Department of the State Security, spelt doom and posed serious danger to the country’s fledgling democracy .

He explained that the invasion was against the spirit, ethos, values and fundamental tenets of democratic norms and tradition, more so with the existence of a duly elected and sworn in governor of the state.

He, however, warned that enough was enough stressing the PDP would not take such action lightly next time even as he called on international community, rights group among others to call the Federal Government to order.

“We insist that the trend must stop henceforth. No democracy survives without a viable opposition in any part of the world and we must also remember to remind the APC that they are the real beneficiaries of the liberal democratic ethos of the PDP.

“We once more advise the DSS to preoccupy itself with the task of ensuring internal security and desist from daily harassing and intimidating members of the opposition.

“We implore the international community, the civil society organisations and human rights activists to caution the All Progressives Party-led Federal Government and to insist that it respects the well entrenched democratic tradition.

“We all have a duty to prevent what looks to us like a steady slide of this country into dictatorship,” Mimiko said.

Some of our so called educated leaders have not looked at history in trying to understand how to achieve the level of democracy( licence to vote every four/five years) that exists in Europe.

When monarchs ruled, it was dictatorship. When the colonial masters ruled us, that was dictatorship. Black people are really funny breeds. You allowed the white folks to rule you by dictatorship but you do not want your president to do the same.

In everything the white folks invented, it always has the outcome of financial gain going back to Religion. Businesses today are based on Christians templates. With head office in Rome, it was able to have subsidiaries all over the world and still trying to expand. This expansion interest is why we have had conflicts in some of the places in the world. So you see, democracy is an invention of man that took its origin from Christianity, an opportunity to make money!

Monarchs were stripped of their powers while the money men plotted the future direction of mankind – Democracy! Right from the beginning, it was based on bribery and corruption. Eventually, the people fought for the right to vote. Even then, not everyone could stand for elected position and neither able to vote. It took years to get where it is today in Europe. Even today, what is referred to as democracy is the ability for you to go cast your vote every four or five years. After that, you are forgotten and what you have is elected dictatorship; what exists in modern world. They can afford to do that because they are developed hence can waste money on multi-party democratic system. Have anyone sat down to calculate how much it costs to have all these elections in Nigeria, a developing country where there is still massive graduate unemployment? Can you imagine how many jobs the money spent on multi-party elections can create?

The west can afford that but as a developing country, we cannot afford it. Elected house of representative is an Elected Dictatorship! When you get there, do you mind about the people. All you guys care about is building mansions, acquiring foreign accounts and building as many mansions as possible!

Buhari is already the Commander-In-Chief. He should declare a State of Emergency and start ruling under military edicts. Dissolve the political parties but keep the elected members to run their States as he, Buhari sees fit (Transparency & Declaration of Assets). Anyone that refuses to comply will be stripped of office and a new election arranged under a Single party of Unity. This will be about electing the Right Person for the job. the person with the best CV instead of political party. Do not be fooled to believe you can only have democracy under multi-party system. If you believe that, you are an Educated Illiterate!

Please let Buhari govern the way he wishes. He has been given the Mandate. It was ok for the white folks to rule us from Westminster but wrong when your own elected President wants to do the same.
