Businessman rescued from abductors den, kidnapper killed

A businessman identified as Mr. Ben Kpaduwa, has been rescued from the den of kidnappers by men of the Imo State Police Command.

Kpaduwa was freed after men of the Imo Police Command engaged his kidnappers in a shoot-out, according to the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike while briefing journalists.

The CP also revealed that one of the suspects, Mr. Chika Ihemena was arrested with the victim’s Toyota Corolla car, while another, Chinedu Imo of Ndiawa Arondizugo, sustained injuries during the shootout but later died at a hospital where he was taken for treatment.

The State Commissioner of Police vowed to that his Command will do everything possible to fight crime in the state while also informing that the Police Force has proposed an amnesty programme for cultists in the state.

“We are engaging all the stakeholders in the higher institutions. We will offer students who are cult members an opportunity to denounce their membership of various cult groups. After that window, we shall launch an onslaught on all campuses in the state,” he said.
