MASSOB warns Chinese medical team to stay out of ‘Biafra land’

The Minister for Health, Osagie Ehanire on Wednesday disclosed that the 15-man Chinese medical team would be undergoing the COVID-19 test on Thursday (today), to ascertain their status.

The medical professionals, with expertise in infectious disease, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology, have been in isolation since their arrival in the country 14 days ago.

According to reports, they have had several conferences with directors, experts and technical officers of the Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other relevant authorities from isolation.

Revealing this at the press briefing by the Presidential Task Force in Abuja, Ehanire daid: “I was reminded that the people who came from China had spent 14 days in quarantine and I ordered that the test be done. The COVID-19 test swabs are to be taken tomorrow and the test will be done to finalise if any of them has any infection.”

It would be recalled that the coming of the Chinese medical team into the country was not favourably accepted by a cross section of Nigerians, especially the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), which vehemently campaigned against it.
