How clash in Benue community left Major General, 7 others dead

Eight people including a retired Major General, Lawrence Ugbo, has been killed and many others wounded in Ugboju district of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The unfortunate incident followed a clash that allegedly broke out between some boys from Ugboju and some group of boys said to be loyal to the erstwhile chairman of the LGA.

A resident of the area who preferred anonymity claimed that the incident came after the Ugboju boys attacked the former LG boss, who was in the village with his loyalists and injuring many of them.

It was leant that some of the boys loyal to the former chairman, on hearing the news went for a reprisal attack and were attacking anybody they see in the area. On process the eight people, including the retired Major General was allegedly killed and his corps cremated.

According to report, the chairman of Otukpo LG, George Ali, has confirmed that several persons lost their lives and those wounded taken to the hospital.

He however, denied that the clash was politically motivated.
