No respite yet for Patience Jonathan over $15.m frozen account

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday convicted four companies said to have been used by Waripamo-owei Emmanuel Dudafa, a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, to siphon $15 million.

Justice Babs Keuwunmi, delivering judgment on the case after looking into the charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), pronounced all the four companies guilty as charged.

He however did not pronounce sentence on them, on the argument that their sentence will be determined at the conclusion of trial of other persons involved in the case.

He said, “In view of the facts stated by the prosecutor, and based on the evidence tendered and based on the agreement of the companies’ directors, the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

“The companies are found guilty in count 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9. In order not to prejudice the case of first, second and third defendants, sentencing them is hereby reserved pending the end of the trial of the first, second and third defendants,” Keuwunmi ruled.

The companies are, Pluto Property and Investment Development Company Limited, Seagate Property and Investment Development Company Limited, Transoceanic Property and Investment Development Company Limited, and Avalon Property and Investment Development Company Limited.

The supposed directors of the firms who pleaded guilty on behalf of the companies and agreed with evidences reviewed by the prosecutor are, Friday Davis, Kola Fredrick; Taiwo Ebenezer, China John and Agbo Baro.

The companies were charged alongside Dudafa, a lawyer, Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs, and Adedamola Bolodeoku, a senior Staff of Skye Bank Plc, on alleged $15.591, 700 million USD fraud.

However, Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has laid claim to the money and sued EFCC and Skye Bank.

Efcc should treat patience the way they treated fani Kayode , obanikoro and others. Leaving her to walk about freely is giving her gut to dare the efcc.

Why should they treat her the way they treat fanl kayode and others.what is her offence and how sure are they that she stole the money. The EFCC should better investigate before taking actions

I’m still not convinced about how EFCC is carrying out their operations, the four companies may be guilty, but are they truly linked to Patience Jonathan? This woman has good heart and will never do anything to tarnish her good image

It appears to me like EFCC is trying to robe her in to a case she’s not involved in. EFCC has been outstanding since Buhari became the president, but Patience’s case seems to be bias. I strongly believe Patience is innocent
