Lagos sends message of hope to residents, says COVID-19 under control

Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has confirmed that the state has lost two more patients to Covid-19.

Abayomi made the confirmation in a post on his Twitter handle- @ProfAkinAbayomi on Thursday.

He said with the two more deaths that the total number of persons to have died of coronavirus in the state was now 18.

He also confirmed that the state recorded 74 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total confirmed cases of the dreaded disease to 512.

He wrote, “#COVID19LAGOS update as at 22nd of April, 2020.

74 new #COVID19 cases confirmed in Lagos on the 22nd of April, 2020. Total number of confirmed #COVID19 cases in Lagos rises to 512.

“Lagos recorded 2 more #COVID19 related deaths. Total #COVID19Lagos deaths are now 18.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner, also on Thursday encouraged Lagosians to wear face masks as part of the measures to get rid of the virus.

He said residents in the state should emulate the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who now wear locally made face masks.

“In his quest to rid Lagos state of #COVID19 infection, Lagos Incident Commander and Governor of Lagos @jidesanwoolu has demonstrated leadership with the use of locally made face mask.

“Using facemask to reduce #COVID19 infection is therefore a responsibility we all must embrace.

“Let’s #MaskUpLagos to stop further spread of #COVID19 infection! Stay safe #ForAGreaterLagos,” Abayomi wrote.
