COVID-19: Lagos issues directives to restaurant operators

As part of efforts to check the spread of COVID-19, the Lagos State Government has asked operators of restaurants and eateries in the state to ensure they checked the temperature of all their customers and employees.

It also said that restaurants and eateries in the state must ensure their visitors stand six feet apart and that their employees wear face coverings and gloves at all times.

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Solomon Bonu, who stated this in a statement, said offenders of the measures risk heavy sanctions.

Stressing that restaurants and eateries remained restricted to service their customers with take-away packs, Bonu noted that owing to the Ramadan fast, they could open between 9am and 7pm.

“The ministry has set up a task force to monitor, arrest and prosecute erring facilities for non-compliance. Comprehensive guidelines will be issued and made available to the operators,” he said.

He, meanwhile, reiterated that hotels, bars and clubs remained shut in the state until the state government decides otherwise.
