Gov Okowa says death penalty no longer fashionable

It was a moment of relief on Thursday for the Peoples Democratic Party and Delta State governor, Senator Okowa, as the Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, upheld his election.

The Appeal Court panel, which relocated from the Benin division of the court to Abuja, dismissed the appeal filed Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party in the Delta state governorship election.

In his ruling on Thursday, Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, leading five others on the bench, said Ogboru’s appeal lacked merit and further upheld the tribunal ruling which had earlier dismissed the Labour Party’s guber candidate petition.
