The abductors of Chief Olu Falae may not have their demand fulfilled as the Ondo State Police Command has directed the family not to pay a penny to them.

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) was abducted in his farm on Monday by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

They initially demanded for N100million but later reduced it to N90million.

But the police said on Wednesday that the family should ignore the financial demand of the abductors.

The state police command spokesman, Wole Ogodo, said police was not in support of any attempt to pay ransom to the abductors, stressing that rescue efforts were ongoing.

“The police team led by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mike Ogbodu, is doing its best to rescue Falae alive”, he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, a marching order to ensure the release of the elder statesman without delay.

The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has equally launched a massive manhunt for the politician.
