El Clasico: Barca beat Madrid to win International Champions Cup

The El Clasico clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona on foreign soil was a five-goal thriller at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA.

It was the first time the teams met in a friendly since 1991 and only the second time outside of Spain.

Barcelona defeated their La Liga rivals 3-2 in the clash in the early hours of Sunday (Nigerian time) and were awarded the trophy as winners of the International Champions Cup in the USA.

Barca claimed nine points from their matches, whereas Real Madrid only had one.

Lionel Messi, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique scored the three goals for Barca, while Mateo Kovaciv and Marcos Asensio scored for Madrid.

Madrid were missing Cristiano Ronaldo, still on holiday, but both teams were close to full strength.

The historic rivals will meet again in the Spanish Super Cup this August, and this International Champions Cup match serves as preparation for that much-anticipated clash.
