#ENDSARS: Sen Goje supports movement, say SARS operatives make him lose hope in society

The movement by #ENDSARS campaigners for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad has witnessed more momentum as former Governor of Gombe State and Senator representing Gombe Central, Senator Danjuma Goje says he is in support of the crusade.

Goje while reacting to a series of complaints shared on his Twitter time-line by Nigerian youths on the alleged harassment and assaults by SARS operatives said members of the squad make him lose hope in the society.

In reply to the many complaints, Goje in his Twitter reply wrote; ““I stand and support Nigerians in the call for #EndSARS.

“Going through some Tweets with the hashtag, they are kind of people that make me lose Hope in Society bit more.

“Anything that has a beginning must have an end. Stay strong.”

24 hours ago, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, ordered the immediate re-organisation of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) following public outcry of the violent and exploitative measures against innocent citizens by members of the squad.

According to a statement by Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relation’s Officer, the IGP also ordered an immediate investigation into the activities of SARS, with the aim of prosecuting cases of human right abuses.

Even with these responses, many of the campaigners are still expressing displeasure at the activities of the outfit, and have continued to call for its scrapping.

Majority of Nigerians have supported #ENDSARS, because they have hit almost every member of the society in one way or the other, so they should not expect less from the people…Police suppose to protect the public, they are not to harass them…
