Published

Federation Cup title holders Enyimba continued their march in the 2014 Federation Cup after they defeated Sharks 2-0 to reach the competition’s semi-finals. Dolphins also reached the last four courtesy of a 4-2 win over Lobi Stars.
The other two quarter-final matches were decided on penalties with Giwa edging past Crown FC 5-4 and Prime FC eliminating Gateway FC 5-3 after both games ended scoreless.
Flying Eagles invitee Kingsley Sokari opened scoring Enyimba in Abuja against Sharks, before Cameroonian forward Raphael Boumsong doubled the lead.
Enyimba substitute Emeka Nwana was red carded in the game, while Mfon Udoh failed to make it 3-0 for the Aba club when he wasted a glorious chance.
Giwa goalkeeper Leke Ojo was the hero for his Jos club during the penalty shootout when he saved one of the efforts from the spot by Crown.
Ifeanyi Ananeme’s effort for Giwa was cancelled during the game.
The cup final is fixed for August 16 in Lagos with the overall winners earning the right to represent Nigeria at the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup.
