The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, may have deferred the closure of Third Mainland Bridge till Friday,July 27th 2018 to fully sensitise the public, New Telegraph has learnt.

The proposed closure is to allow for massive maintenance of the infrastructure, a major bridge that connects the Mainland to the Island in Lagos.

The new date was the outcome of a stakeholders’ meeting held yesterday at the instance of the government. The bridge measures about 11.8 km in length.

The stakeholders, comprising traffic regulatory agencies, transport unions, truck owners, drivers’ unions, and law enforcement agents, among others, met with government’ officials to discuss the modality of the proposed repairs of the bridge at the Ministry of Works office around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

New Telegraph gathered that the bridge would be closed down for three days, covering July 27, 28 and 29, 2018.
