Four dead, 6 missing in Kano canoe accident

Benue boat mishap claims 21 lives

Four people died on Tuesday evening in a canoe accident at Kauranmata village, Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.

The canoe was carrying 15 rice processors from Karfi town in Kura LGA when it capsized in the area.

Six passengers are still missing at the time of filing this report while five people including the canoe driver and a nursing mother were rescued alive from the water.

The spokesman for Madobi LGA, Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai, confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday.

He listed the victims as Maryam Jibrin, Yusuf Galinja, Kabiru Muhammad, and Safiyanu Musa.
