The Akwa Ibom state governor, Emmanuel Udom, has suspended the state chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Valentine Attah.

The suspension was announced to take effect with immediate effect.

The development came up a few hours after the governor announced the sack of the commissioner of Agriculture and Food Sufficiency, Dr Uduak Udo-Inyang.

Attah was suspended due to his alleged involvement in an unauthorized recruitment of persons into the Unified Local Government Service.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the state government Mr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, on Thursday, the appointment made by Attah was declared null and void.
