Group urges PDP NWC to disband Kogi caretaker committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Frontliners, an intra-party pressure group, on Saturday urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to disband the party’s caretaker committee in Kogi State.

The group made the call in a statement jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Hussein Mohammed, Secretary, Mr. Moses Abidemi, and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dan Okafor, in Abuja.

It commended the NWC for rejecting attempts to replace the results of the ward and local government congresses with another conducted by the caretaker committee on Saturday.

The group expressed concern that the caretaker committee insisted on replacing the July 27 ad hoc delegates conference in the state despite opposition by 18 out of the 21 PDP local government chairmen in Kogi State.

The statement read: “The PDP Frontliners hereby demand immediate disbandment of the controversial Kogi PDP Caretaker Committee.

“We applaud the NWC for an emphatic memo dated August 7, which effectively scuttled plans by the clique to override the authority of the PDP National Secretariat by addressing a petition to INEC.

“This is an unpardonable affront that speaks volumes about their true intentions.”

The group also commended the PDP local government chairmen in Kogi for stopping an attempt by the caretaker committee to reverse delegate elections in all the wards in the state.
