Heads to roll as Buhari issues deadline for TSA

Published

on

Starting from September 16, heads may start rolling in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government if any individual account is kept by any of them.

This is because President Muhammadu has finally decided to ‘walk his talk’ with regard to the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of which he has set September 15 deadline for full compliance.

The president had on August 7 issued a directive that all revenue due to the Federal Government or any of its agencies must be paid into the Treasury Single Account or designated accounts maintained and operated in the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), except otherwise expressly approved.

But the directive appeared not to have been taken seriously by those concerned.

The Media Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina, said in a statement that after September 15, failure by any of the MDAs to comply would attract sanctions.

He explained that already a circular has been issued to the MDAs by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, urging them to ensure strict compliance with the deadline to avoid sanctions.

The circular from the office of Kifasi (HCSF/428/S.1/125) of September 4, 2015, noted that a number of MDAs were yet to comply with the Circular Ref. No. HCSF/428/S.1/120 of August 7, 2015 which conveyed President Buhari’s original directive on the payment of all Federal Government revenue into a Treasury Single Account.
