'I'm back to PDP,' Jim Dumps APC, faults Onnoghen's trial

Ahead next month general elections, erstwhile governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and returned to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nwobodo, who said ‘I’m back to PDP’, and described himself as a democrat, called on those close to President Muhammadu Buhari to try and tell him the truth about the state of the nation.

He also described the trial of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, as illegal, “a mockery and desecration of the judiciary and the rule of law.” He added, “I will not be part of it.”

Nwobodo made his dumping of APC known on Friday at his Amaechi country home, in Enugu State, when some PDP chieftains visited him.

Among those that visited him include S.N Okeke, former chairman, Police Service Commission, Professor A.B.C Nwosu, Chief Oseloka Obaze, the Secretary to the Abia State Government, among others.

Introducing their mission, which was to plead with the former governor to return to the PDP, a party he co-founded in 1998, Okeke said, “Why we are here is that a house you built has been vacant, we are calling on you to most respectfully step back to your house.”

In his response, Nwobodo noted that some big wig PDP political leaders from the South East had also met him earlier for the same purpose. He then assured his guests that he was dumping the ruling APC for his old party.

“It is difficult for me to ignore their (PDP political leaders from South East) call and I cannot do that. Where will I go if I’m not with you. I’m back to PDP.

“I’m a democrat, I believe in democracy, those around Mr. President should tell him the truth,” he said as he frowned at some of the activities of the APC members.
