High court sets aside Okorocha-sponsored impeachment of deputy gov Madumere

Imo State deputy governor, Eze Madumere has asked members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state not to be sad over the party’s loss of control of the state leadership.

He said they should instead be in celebration mood for playing a part in making sure that Governor Rochas Okorocha, who he described as ‘emperor’ was not allowed to continue running Imo State with his relatives as a family business.

Madumere was addressing a cross-section of APC faithful from his Mbaitoli local government area of the state when he said this. He asked them to remain in the party and draw consolation that the party is still in control of the Federal Government.

“The truth is that we did not lose any election. Posterity will remember us well because we said no to bad leadership. We are on the side of the people. Our people surely will be appreciative of our effort in the journey to liberate our state from hands of the Emperor.

“It is true that we are not on the saddle today but we are rest assured that our people would always remember what we had to do to ensure they are not perennially enslaved and that their spirits are conquered by whims and caprices of just one man with his family,” he said.

Her assured that he was going to unite with other forward-looking leaders of the APC in the state to rebuild and reposition it against future elections, insisting that APC was the best thing that has happened to Nigeria by its policies.

Okorocha’s insistence on his son-in-law Uche Nwosu, to be his successor destroyed his relationship with his deputy and many stakeholders of the party in the state.

Both Nwosu, who contested the Imo governorship election under Action Alliance (AA) and APC governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma, were defeated by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9 governorship poll in the state.
