The crisis rocking Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken a higher dimension as four persons are said to be claiming the state chairmanship position in the party.

This came from the outcome of the controversial congresses by different factions.

The claimants to the chairmanship seat are Nnamdi Anyaehie, Charles Ezekwem, Greg Owuamalam and Chuks Ajaelu.

The leadership tussle in the state, it was learnt, is coming as a result of intense interests of some high profile politicians in the state allegedly, scheming and strategising for governorship position in 2019 poll.

Because these politicians would want, who will protect their interests as the party chairman, hence the scramble for the chairmanship position.

The politicians allegedly interested in the governorship position it was also learnt, include Senator Hope Uzodinma, former state governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Bright Nwanne and Charles Onyeagbako.

While Uzodinma and Ohakim are said to be behind Anyaehie-led faction, Ihedioha is alleged to be supporting the Ezekwem faction.

On the other hand, Senator Bright Nwanne and Chief Charles Onyeagbako are said to be fully backing the Greg Owuamalam-led executive.

There are insinuations that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has recognised the Charles Ezekwem faction as the state party chairman, a claim the Anyaehie faction said was false.
