Olisa Metuh hospitalised

The continuation of the trials of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh and the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Olisa Metuh, could not proceed on Wednesday due to the absence of the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang.

The judge was said to be at the Lagos division of the court for an undisclosed mission.

Justice Okon served at the Lagos division before his tranfer to Abuja.

The defence was expected to have cross examined the prosecution witness, who had testified at the last sitting of Alex Badeh’s trial, while Metuh was expected to open his defence before the same judge.

Badeh is standing trial for allegedly defrauding the Nigerian Airforce when he served as the Chief of Air Staff. Metuh is however on trial for receiving N400 million from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. The money is allegedly from funds meant for the procurement of arms for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Trial in the two cases have been adjourned to the March 24, 2016.
