KANO: Relief as escaped lion from zoo is rearrested hours later

Frayed nerves in the city of Kano have been calmed after the Managing Director of Kano Zoological Garden, Alhaji Usman Gwadabe, announced that a lion which escaped from its zoo had been arrested.

Alhaji Gwadabe revealed that much in a statement issued on Sunday after the lion reportedly escaped from the Zoological Garden late last night.

According to Alhaji Gwadabe, the lion was arrested around the city centre by a team of experts sent out to track it down.

“The lion behaved itself without attacking or trying to caused havoc,” he added.

Reports say when news first filtered in revealing the escape of the lion last night, there was panic among residents of the area, who ensured they retired early to bed with their houses properly locked and all openings closed.
