Mahrez misses penalty as Man City, Liverpool play goalless

Former African Player of the Year, Riyad Mahrez missed the best chance to seal victory for Manchester City as the Blues drew goalless against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Algerian star fired the ball over the bar after the visitors were awarded a penalty in the 86th minute of the encounter at Anfield.

Mahrez, who moved to City from Leicester this season, has now missed five of his last eight Premier League penalties, four for his former club and one for the Pep Guardiola side.

Both sides had several chances to score but none was taken, as the game turned out to be a really disappointing one.

It is now nine consecutive home clean sheets in the Premier League for Liverpool, but Manchester City go back on top of the table.
