Serial robber, Roger Martin, 57, has been arrested by officers of the Orange County Sheriff’s office who interrupted his robbery attempt at the same bank for the 11th time in less than 24 months.

Reports say Martin stormed the Chase Bank branch at about 9:00am wielding what looked like a M16 rifle and as he had done on all previous robberies, he passed a note to a bank employee asking for the sum of $50,000.

But unknown to Martin, officers of the Sheriff’s office had been monitoring the site in the last 14 days and he unfortunately walked into their trap. There were about two undercover policemen waiting for him inside, while others who were maintaining a close surveillance were watching from nearby buildings.

The unlucky robber was later disarmed and arrested by undercover policemen in less than a minute after entering the bank as the officers found 2 grams of crystal meth as well two concealed pistols on him.

“This is a clear message to all criminals in Orange County,” District Attorney, David M Hoovler, told reporters. “If you commit crimes in our jurisdiction, you will pay for it. This man thought that he was a criminal mastermind and that he could keep committing robberies without getting caught. I’m proud to say that we are smarter than he is, and that we caught him.”

Mr. Martin is the first man in the history of the State of California, to be accused of robbing the same bank more than 5 times, beating a record which dated from the 19th century.
