MELAYE: Police besiege hospital

The travails of embattled Senator Dino Melaye has continued to mount as over 30 police officers Tuesday evening stormed the Zanklin Hospital, Abuja, where the lawmaker is being treated for injuries he sustained from reportedly jumping out of a police vehicle.

The presence of the policemen led by the force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, created tension in the hospital especially as they arrested two persons, a man and a woman supposedly staff of the hospital for yet to be known offences.

The senator, who represents Kogi west, was admitted into the hospital after he attempted to escape from police custody.

It was not yet clear what the mission of the policemen was, however, soon after arriving, they summoned the official of the hospital and demanded to know where Melaye was.

As at the time of filing this story, the entrance to the hospital has been blockaded by the gun-wielding policemen.
