Ngige, APGA in war of words over Gov Obiano’s ‘idleness’

The war of words between Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, and Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has taken another dimension with Ngige calling Obiano ‘an idle and do-nothing-governor” who has nothing to offer the state.

Ngige who spoke on Sunday in Awka, the state capital, during a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and members of the state registration and revalidation committee of the party, was reacting to a viral photo of Obiano where he was seen with a pet dog in his living room while he was reportedly holidaying in the United States of America.

Ngige said Obiano had the time to take the ‘weird photo’ because he was ‘idle’ and had nothing to do, even as the governor of a state.

Ngige who also berated the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in the state, over what he termed an abysmal performance, said:

“We want to drive away governor-do-nothing, who’s sitting down there. You can’t be a governor and just cross your legs and be playing music and say you are governor.

“No work is going on in this state. The people of the state are tired of APGA. We’re tired of bringing people who don’t know their left from right who just want to come and learn how to be a governor.”

But reacting to Ngige’s comments, Victor Oye, the National Chairman of APGA, said Ngige was just jealous of Obiano and his achievements in the state.

“This is Jealousy Limited. What is wrong with a governor creating time out of his busy schedule to cool off after working hard to deliver democracy dividends to his people?

“Is it not said, ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?’ Let me ask: Which one is better: taking a photo with your pet dog or sleeping with another man’s wife, which is the pastime of some of our loud-mouthed and green-eyed politicians?

“What about those that do terrible things kept out of public glare? But Willie Obiano is real and altruistic. I stand stoutly by him, because he has made Anambra State proud, notwithstanding the shenanigans of some sanctimonious individuals who always think they are better than others,” Oye said.
