Oliseh wants Tanzania camp for CHAN Eagles

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has solicited from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, the need to camp the homebased Eagles in Tanzania as part of preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championship billed for January in Rwanda.

Nigeria qualified for the tournament, after defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 on aggregate and will join 13 other countries for the CHAN, which kicks off on January 16.

It is believed Oliseh also wants the team to open camp in Abuja this month and if he gets the approval of the NFF, the team will leave for Dar es Salam on December 22.

The choice of Tanzania according to Oliseh is to enable the players acclimatise to the weather which is similar to that of Rwanda and avoid distraction that comes with camping in Nigeria before and during Christmas period.

But a top official of the NFF said, “The plan is for the team to train in a country close to Rwanda before the competition. Tanzania would have been a suitable site but it is too expensive.

“We are sure a more definite plan will be finalised very soon.”

This will be Nigeria’s second appearance at CHAN, after winning bronze on their debut in South Africa.
