Ahead of November 26 Ondo State governorship election, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has perfected plans to rig the election for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party said INEC the recruitment of APC card carrying members as personnel in the coming election, was a clear strategy to rig the election like it did in the state during the last presidential election.

PDP stated this in a statement it issued on Monday by the party Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Banji Okunomo. The party vowed to put up a petition against the electoral commission concerning the allegation.

The party said, “It has been discovered that the INEC has concluded plans to repeat the rigging strategy it employed in connivance with the APC during the last presidential election in the state.

“The INEC has been discovered to have enlisted APC card carrying members as personnel in the scheduled election. The same thing was done in the last presidential election where the supposed INEC staff were the ones dictating to voters where they should thumb print on the ballot paper.

“It is sad that the electoral body could be conniving with the APC to rig election and endanger our democracy which did not come without some people losing their lives,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Segun Agbaje, has refuted the claim. He said there was no such thing as recruitment of any party man for the forthcoming election.
