In from Nifemi Daniel…

Super Eagles and FC Ashdod of Israel defender, Juwon Oshaniwa, has expressed optimism in blossoming in Scotland after securing a three-year contract with Premier League side, Heart Football Club.

The 24-year-old who has received a work permit will be a great asset to the Tynecastle club with his ability to play at both centre back and left back.

“I am very happy with the development. Going to play in Scotland is a good move for me,” said the defender who represented Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup.

“The profession is about movement and I am looking forward to joining the team and moving to a bigger level. It’s a sign of better days ahead for me,” the free agent player added.

Oshaniwa would become the Tynecastle club’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Gavin Reilly, Juanma Delgado and fellow defender Blazej Augustyn.

Meanwhile, forgotten Super Eagles midfielder, Joel Obi, is close to making a switch from Inter Milan to Genoa.

According to Italian top website, calciomercato.com, Joel is discussing personal terms with the modest Serie A side with a view to having an increment in his pay package.

A host of Serie A sides had expressed interest in the Nigerian after he was declared surplus to requirements at Inter with two newly promoted-Serie A sides, Carpi and Frosinone, leading the chase for the Nerazzurri midfielder, but seem to have lost out to Genoa who first signaled their interest in the player last April.

Last season, Obi scored once in 17 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions.
