Oyegun must go, Timi Frank echoes Tinubu's call
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has vowed to mobilise members of the party against its national Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun over the present crisis rocking the party.
Frank told journalists in Abuja while responding to the call for APC national Chairman’s resignation by the party national leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that if after 14 days Odigie-Oyegun fails to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, he would mobilise members to demonstrate against his leadership at the party’s secretariat.
He said he was currently mobilising some members of the NEC of the party to convene an emergency NEC meeting and described the call for the Chairman’s resignation as a vindication for him, having made a similar call earlier.
“I was one of the first persons in this party who took the bull by the horns to foresee what is happening today in our party, and I came out early to say there were issues or crisis in this party.
“As at that time, I was alone, nobody saw where I was coming from. This crisis started when the issue of the leadership of the National Assembly came up, and I foresaw it at that time that because of the decision and position that my party took at that time against their own party members like the Senate President and the Speaker, there could be further issues.
“Today, I have been vindicated. We all saw what happened in the aftermath of Ondo primary elections…a founding father of the party, a national leader of our party has concurred with my earlier call that Oyegun should resign as national chairman.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to Mr. President because it has gotten to a situation where he can no longer be silent on the party’s internal issues. The president must speak out and save our party. He is the leader of the party and must not leave the party in the hands of these people that cannot resolve one crisis.
“If we don’t do something, even APC supporters in Ondo State will sabotage the process for us because they are not happy. We must do everything possible to bring every aggrieved person together. If we don’t take emergency steps to resolve these issues, we will have ourselves to blame.
“I am giving Oyegun 14 days from today to convene a NEC meeting. If he fails to do so, I will mobilise members to demonstrate at the secretariat. I have started mobilising NEC members to ensure that the APC leadership is made to do the right thing and summon a NEC meeting,” Frank said.
