PARIS: Man threatening cops with knife arrested as police wives' protest against violence

A man who caused panic at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on Saturday when he threatened cops with a knife has been arrested by French police.

The man who had approached gendarmes patrolling the train station was told to lie down and he respectfully followed orders before he was arrested by combat ready cops.

Reports say the incident caused panic at the train station as passengers tried to flee the scene and trains were delayed.

Meanwhile, over a 100 wives and partners of police are protesting in Paris against attacks on police following the killing of an officer on the Champs Elysees.

The Angry Police Wives group is marching through the city two days after Xavier Jugele was shot twice in the head by criminal Karim Cheurfi.

France has been on terror alert following the killing of a policeman by an Islamist militant on Thursday.
