PDP impatient with FG’s performance

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressive Congress (APC) government to come up with a policy thrust to enable Nigerians know where it is heading to.

The opposition party, through its National Public Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the inability of the Buhari administration to specifically point to the direction it is going is affecting the country’s economy and stalling government activities.

It added that the absence of clear cut policies and programmes is not giving Nigerians the opportunity to assess the government properly.

“Our worry as the major opposition party in this country is that we have not seen the policy thrust of this government because we want to be able to provide alternative options to their policies and programmes, but for a while, we have not seen any policy or programmes of the Buhari administration.

“So we want him to come up with some policy and programmes to enable us assess his government properly,” Metuh said.

On the insinuation that the PDP is holding on the position of the Deputy Senate President because of its desperation to remain in power at all costs, Metuh said the party was not in any way interested in sharing power with the APC.

“We are a party in opposition, and we are not looking for any role in this government. It is entirely an APC government as the failure or success of the government depends squarely on the APC members, but when it comes to the legislature, it is a different arm of government and reserves the right to do things their own way,” he said.
