Rampaging herdsmen continue killing spree in fresh attack on Benue community

Sounds of cries, sorrows and agonies again saturated the air in Branch Umenger in Guma Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State on Thursday, as suspected herdsmen attacked and killed several persons.

The attackers, who reportedly stormed the area with arms, it was learnt, massacred anyone in sight whose feet could not carry them out of harm’s way fast enough, including the elderly, women and children.

An eye witness report from the affected community named one Ataki Mageri and James Apav as being among those killed by the herdsmen during the afternoon attack, adding that the invaders also razed Tse Sameka village.

Following the attack, several persons are said to have abandoned their homes for fear of being killed by the heavily armed herdsmen.

The Police in the state are yet to respond to the incident as at the time of this report.
