Police arrests bribe taking officer exposed in video

12-hours after the Eze G.A. Omodu, the Paramount Ruler of Mgbuolua in Rundele Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, was kidnapped by unknown men, the community leader has been freed by security operatives.

Reports say the paramount ruler had just returned home to celebrate Christmas with his family when the kidnappers struck by whisking him away to their hideout.

Recounting how the paramount ruler was kidnapped, a resident of the community Alex Igbeni said; “Around 2:30am today (Tuesday), unknown gunmen invaded the house of the paramount ruler of Mgbuolua, who just travelled home with his family yesterday for Christmas and kidnapped him and also made away with his car.

“But his car was found at the boundary between Ndele and Rumuji communities on the East-West Road. We believe that the kidnappers took him through the bush there. We want security operatives to help us.”

According to Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, the Public Relations Officer in the state, the kidnappers freed Omodu when they discovered that the police was already closing in on them.

The PPRO said; “We did not waste any time as our men went into the bush in search of the traditional ruler and they were able to rescue him as the kidnappers left him when they noticed that our men were getting close to them inside the bush.

“The rescue of the monarch was achieved under 12 hours after he was kidnapped. Our Anti-Kidnapping Unit moved into the area and into the bush. The result is that the traditional ruler has been rescued.”
