A middle aged man, Chidobe Nkem, was on Monday shot dead by a four-man armed robbery gang who intercepted his vehicle at the Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Warri Urban after  trailing him from the bank and stole N5 million from him.

The deceased, a driver who was accompanied by Mr. Maxwell Adibe, a manager (both staff of a Marine Company, Smu-Tuns Nigeria Ltd) drove in a C-Class Mercedes-Benz to the bank, along Airport Road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The manager got into the banking hall at about 8.34am and withdrew N5 million on behalf of the company. He joined the driver who waited for him inside the car.

As they were returning to the office with the cash, they were trailed by a metallic coloured Toyota Corolla car.

Daily Sun learnt that it was right from the popular Link Road, off Ajamimogha Road while trying to negotiate into the GRA that the robbers fired the first shot from behind through to the rear glass of the car which hit the driver at the back.
