Russian police nabs St. Petersburg bombing suspect

The “organiser and executor” of the explosion that rocked a supermarket in the Russian city of St. Petersburg which left as much as 14 people injured has been arrested by security operatives.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) believe the arrested suspect carried out Wednesday’s bombing of the Perekrestok supermarket branch which was claimed by ISIS.

The terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack on its Amaq news outlet but it gave no evidence of the explosion which rocked the supermarket.

The bloody explosion was described as an “act of terror” by President Vladimir Putin who immediately after the explosion called on security forces to fish out the perpetrators of the explosion.

The attack came as Putin signed a new law on Friday toughening sentences for terrorist recruitment following a mass enlistment of thousands of fighters from Russia and former Soviet states by ISIS.
