Contrary to its earlier plan to commence a debate on the general principles of the 2018 budget, the Senate has announced the deferment of the exercise till next week.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, who made the announcement at the commencement of Tuesday’slegislative business, told his colleagues that the deferment was done so as to enable the Red Chamber pass the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) this week.

He said another reason for the deferment was to allow the National Assembly bureaucracy distribute copies of the 2018 budget to lawmakers.

The house is simply not competent enough, why can’t they work on passing the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) this week and still go ahead with the budget debate as scheduled? I see nothing special in all of these, it is their duty, they ought to be up and doing

Delebrating on these things are not as easy as they appear, fine the senate are expected to be up and doing, but we equally don’t want errors from them and we want them to always be at their best. For them to be at their best, they need time and we need to agree with them

The senate should take their time with the budget so they can come up with the best. At least, it should not exceed February 2017

They have started their nonsense again, this is how they will delay the passage of the budget till 2018 December if care is not taken.

It’s better they delayed the passage of the budget than to hastily approved irrational budget

WHAT MAINA IS SAYING SHOWS THE ANTI-GRAFT POLICY OF THE GOVERNMENT SINCE 2015 TO DATE IS NOT WORKING. WHAT MAKE A NATION GREAT LIKE THE UNITED STATES IS THE APPLICATION OF THE RULE OF LAW,WHICH WE LACK IN THIS COUNTRY.WHY CANT MAINA BE ARRESTED WHETHER THE EFCC WILL RUN OR NOT.WHY CANT THE PRESIDENT ORDERS HIS ARREST OR IT BECAUSE IT INVOLVE SOME PROMINENT PEOPLE OR NOT.
FIRST OF ALL,ARREST MAINA,THEN ARRAIGN A TRUCE PANEL WHERE HE CAN ALLOW TO SPEAK INDEPENDENTLY,THEN INVITE THE STAKEHOLDERS AND SEE WHO IS GUILTY TO BE JAIL OR NOT.
THIS NATION NEEDS LEADERS WHO WILL BE BOLD TO APPLY THE RULE OF LAW WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR.
