Senators given 3 days to handover office keys

National Assembly embarks on one-month recess

As an end comes to the 8th National Assembly, the outgoing lawmakers have been instructed to ensure they hand over their office keys within the next three days.

The instruction which was handed to the lawmakers on Thursday was from Committee on Recovery and Preparation of the 8th Assembly Offices’ Furniture and Equipment for Ninth Senate, set up by the National Assembly management.

Senate President Bukola Saraki made the announcement at the beginning of the valedictory session of the 8th Assembly at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Reading out the letter containing the instruction and entitled “Handing Over of Office Keys, Furniture Equipment,” Saraki called on the lawmakers to hand them over from Thursday till Saturday.

He said, “Please inform all the distinguished senators that the handing over of office keys, furniture and office equipment will commence today, Thursday June 6 through to Saturday the June 8.

”Distinguished senators are, accordingly, enjoined to contact the committee in charge of the exercise in the Senate Committee Room 107 which is in the new Senate Building between the hours of 9 a.m., to 5p.m.,for the handing over.”

The 8th Senate was inaugurated on June 9, 2015. It will come to an end on June 6, while the Ninth National Assembly will be inaugurated on June 11.
