Osinbajo panel writes Senate, demands interim reports indicting SGF

The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has described as attempt to rubbish his person, the call by the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday for his resignation and subsequent trial.

The Nigerian Senate had on Wednesday, following a report of the Senate ad-hoc committee on North-East Humanitarian Crisis, which indicted SGF Lawal, unanimously adopted the committee recommendation that the embattled SGF be suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari or either resign and be prosecuted by the relevant anti-corruption agencies in the country for violating the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, 2007 and the Federal Government Financial Rules and Regulations pertaining to the award of contracts.

Chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Senator Shehu Sani had in his presentation of the report during Senate plenary, indicted the SGF and accused him of using his office to enrich himself, contrary to various provisions of existing laws.
