Spurs win for first time in six EPL games as Mourinho begins duty

Jose Mourinho made his managerial debut for Tottenham Hotspur as the club ended a five-game winless Premier League run with victory against West Ham.

Spurs, who parted ways with former boss Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week, put up a fine performance at the London Stadium to secure a 3-2 victory.

Mourinho, who last managed a team in December 2018, has not lost his opening game at any club since his first job with Benfica in 2000.

It was a comfortable start for Mourinho at Spurs, although the two late goals from substitute Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna gave the final result a flattering look.

The visitors had gone 3-0 up before 50 minutes, with Son Heung-Min opening the scoring in the 36th minute and Lucas Moura doubling the lead on 43 minutes.

Harry Kane then thought he had put the game far beyond their hosts with a goal in the 49th minute, before West Ham began a comeback that could not be completed.

The win was Tottenham’s first Premier League away win since January 20, 2019.
